Belltree and Earlsfield Energy Join Forces to Accelerate Global Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Development

Belltree and Earsfield team up

Global momentum for carbon capture and storage (CCS) is accelerating. Over 500 CCS projects are now in development worldwide — a fivefold increase in just five years, according to the Global CCS Institute. Operational capacity has already surpassed 50 million tonnes per year. The International Energy Agency projects this will reach around 430 million tonnes by 2030.

As investment in CCS grows, quickly identifying and developing viable storage sites is now a key competitive advantage. To meet this need, Belltree, a leader in subsurface intelligence, has partnered with Earlsfield Energy, a fast-growing CCS and low-carbon energy developer. The strategic partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), combines Belltree’s technical evaluation expertise with Earlsfield’s project development skills. Together, they aim to accelerate the screening and delivery of new CCS projects.

Combining Digital Intelligence with Development Expertise

This partnership combines Belltree’s advanced digital evaluation technology with Earlsfield Energy’s expertise in project development and operations. Earlsfield is focused on balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability. By developing scalable infrastructure, it aims to achieve carbon-negative outcomes through discipline, reliability, and efficiency. Earlsfield offers end-to-end delivery capabilities, advancing CCS opportunities from permitting to development and long-term operations.

“Belltree’s digital platform enhances Earlsfield Energy’s strategy to acquire, build, and operate assets in both the gas production and carbon storage sectors,” said Pierre Girard, CEO of Earlsfield Energy. “We look forward to co-creating new products and workflows that drive innovation and accelerate the development of low-carbon solutions.”

“This agreement is a key step for Belltree in expanding the reach of our digital evaluation platform,” said Grant Stewart, Business Development Director at Belltree. “Our bMark™ CCS platform enables fast, data-driven assessments of storage potential. Combined with Earlsfield’s operational expertise, we can efficiently move high-quality opportunities from technical evaluation to fully investable projects.”

Supporting the Net Zero Agenda
At the centre of the collaboration is bMark™ CCS, Belltree’s benchmarking and screening tool designed to assess subsurface storage potential efficiently, systematically and with regulatory readiness in mind. Earlsfield will integrate this capability into its project screening process to strengthen portfolio growth, with a focus on technically grounded, low-emissions solutions.

The partnership will focus on technical studies, digital tools, and workflow innovation to advance projects to investment-ready status.MThese efforts will be supported by robust digital evaluations, ensuring both technical and commercial readiness of selected CCS opportunities.

Belltree and Earlsfield Energy invite collaboration with partners and investors aiming to accelerate carbon capture and storage (CCS) development. They combine advanced digital screening and scalable workflows to support and de-risk future low-carbon energy investments.
