    Benchmarking a portfolio of 77 hydrocarbon assets

    Aims: A significant mid-tier Operator sought independent review of a substantial proportion of their reserves portfolio. The project’s main aim was to highlight areas of the portfolio with significant remaining potential in order to internally allocate resources to maximise company-wide profits. 

    Outcomes: The project provided defendable reserves assurance and empirically compared each asset not only to their peers, but also within the portfolio. Ranking was used to highlight areas of the portfolio which were under-performing. This confirmed the client’s internal assessment, as well as highlighted several additional areas where applied resource could result in increased reserves.

    bMark™ Functionality: bMark™ was used to benchmark several development metrics (RF, well count and peak rates) across the whole portfolio, creating a consistent and data driven base for comparison.

    Benchmarking & analogue review of two large oil fields

    “Indonesia

    Aims: The client, after completion of a successful drilling campaign, was working towards submission of Final Investment Decision for an oil-gas-condensate discovery, offshore Asia. Fundamental questions on data assumptions, recovery factor prediction and development parameters required independent review to ensure optimal strategy selection at this early phase of field life.

    Outcomes: A subsurface analogue screening study and benchmarking exercise was carried out on two distinctive blocks within the asset. Findings were used to re-affirm project viability and strengthen evidence in progression to FID.

    Development and production forecast insights were used to highlight optimism in gas exportation targets, stimulating further internal investigation to ensure commercial constraints were achievable.

    bMark™ Functionality: bMark™ was used to carry out analogue identification and benchmarking to provide independent review on proposed development plans.

    Analogue Basin Review & Benchmarking

    Type of Project: Benchmarking

    “Surinam

    Aims: The client requested Belltree leverage our unique global data and expertise in benchmarking to help them better understand the production and reserves potential of undrilled prospects in the Offshore Suriname Basin.

    Outcomes: A comprehensive investigation of 9 Atlantic margin basins was completed, providing valuable insight for the variable assets expected in the study Basin. Identification of basins, and specific analogue fields, provided ranges of expected field & fluid properties along with performance metrics, such as expected recovery factors.

    A custom-built prospect analyser tool was constructed to allow the client to estimate key development metrics, PVT, recovery factor, production profiles and drilling curves for undrilled prospects in minutes.

    bMark™ Functionality: bMark™ was used to investigate analogous basins surrounding the Atlantic ocean and to extract key statistics fundamental to reserves estimations.

    Aims: Approaching the end of a feasibility study, the client was looking to gain independent review on several development cases and the production profiles being used for decision making.

    Outcomes: A significant number of regional analogues were identified and used to generate robust reference class forecasting which generally supported the clients field performance estimations derived through modelling. FFDP and LTDP cases were benchmarked to highlight uplift potential from ongoing development of the fields.
