With tomorrow marking the date of Halloween, a holiday celebrated each year with ancient Celtic origins, our #TrendOfTheWeek this week investigates the development of the spookiest geology of all – the Graves member found in the USA.
Typically, we find that geological members will display many useful correlations (area vs STOIIP, porosity vs permeability, closure height vs net pay etc.) that help us to predict important assessment parameters when we have very little data.
One of these correlations is shown here – the correlation between area and the number of wells. This metric can assist in very early-stage economic assessments by providing a likely number of wells required for development based on nothing more than the area of a prospect in this member.
These types of simple correlations can be investigated in a variety of granularity from member, formation, depositional environment, basin to basin type to provide valuable early-stage insights.
