Why I joined Belltree and what I enjoy the most?
I started working as a Data Scientist at Belltree from February 2023. The energy sector is the backbone for a better future. I have always been amazed by how the sector has used technology and innovation to immensely transform the sector and improve the service quality for its clients. To be part of this team, which believes in contributing to the realisation of ‘energy transition’ by providing best-in-class global data, analytics and consultative insights, is a great platform for me to start my professional career. I believe that Belltree Group’s collaborative and inclusive work environment with a focus on realizing reserves potential, reducing risks and saving time, making informed commercial decisions, maximising returns and driving change will help me to continuously learn and expand my knowledge and skill set and further develop my personality.
Why data is important in the Energy sector? What is the inspiration surrounding our projects?
Data from the energy sector is key for my role as a data scientist. It helps in increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting the transition to a cleaner more sustainable energy system. This can assist in environmental impact, exploration and production. The inspiration lies behind the need to optimize operations and improve the bottom line. Gaining insights from vast amounts of data leads to making more informed decisions, improved safety and environmental performance.
Relevance of Energy Transition, what does the future look like?
The future of energy transition is expected to continue to accelerate as more countries, companies, and individuals recognize the benefits of renewable energy sources. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has projected that by 2050, nearly 90% of global electricity generation will come from renewable energy sources. This shift will require significant investment in renewable energy infrastructure, including modern technologies and storage solutions to ensure that renewable energy can be reliably and affordably integrated into the grid. Energy transition is relevant for several reasons including economic benefits, energy security and climate change. I hope I can help Belltree for the cause and be a key part of it.
What is it like to be a woman in the industry?
To be a woman in technology came with its own challenges and hurdles to get through but my passion to work in the industry and make a difference gave me the drive to strive forward. I believe it is a great opportunity to work in the industry and being part of the representation for women in technology has given me more motivation to do my best and make way for many others in the future. Working with Belltree, I have never felt better about working in the industry as a woman and the space and voice it gave me.
